Relaxing Music and its Concentration Effects on the Human Brain
by Juan Manuel Galvez
For this experiment, 8 subjects were tested to determine whether music plays a role in helping people increase their concentration while doing a certain task. The reason I choose to do this experiment is to help settle the good old battle between kids and their parents, which is 'Does music really help you concentrate while you study?'.
My hypothesis is that music does play a big role in aiding our concentration.

Methodology and Materials
Materials:
- Computer with access to internet
- Music player software (spotify)
- Google sheets to record the times of each subject.
- This website for games: https://www.play.vg/games/52-Concentration.html

Methodology:
Subjects were chosen at random from the researchers family; they were all asked to sign consent forms to participate in this research.
Each subject was asked to access the website above, and play the games a couple of times without music in order to familiarize themselves with the task at hand.
Then they were asked to play the same game a third time, but this time while playing the music of their choosing.
Then they played it a fourth time without the music.
For relevance, only the last two attempts (with and without music) were recorded in the results section of the website.

Findings
The findings show supporting evidence for the hypothesis.
As shown in the images above, the results were consistently better when the subjects listened to their choice of music while accomplishing the task at hand. Thus, it is safe to conclude that listening to music is in fact a great aid for concentration while studying.
So go ahead, put your headphones on and get to work!
